Our Materials
At Divou, every piece is crafted with care. We believe that the fabric behind your clothing should not only look beautiful, but also feel good, wear well, and respect both people and the planet. Below, you’ll find a guide to the materials we use across our collections—what makes each unique, and how they fit into our philosophy of quality and timeless style.
Cotton
Soft, breathable, and versatile, cotton is a foundation of everyday wear. We use both 100% cotton and cotton blends to ensure comfort, durability, and ease of care. Its natural fibers allow airflow, making it perfect for year-round staples.
Organic Cotton
Grown without harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, organic cotton is gentler on the environment and on your skin. It offers the same softness as conventional cotton, with the added benefit of being a sustainable choice.
Linen
Lightweight and airy, linen is made from the flax plant. Known for its natural texture and ability to keep you cool in warm weather, linen becomes softer with every wash. It’s one of our favorite fabrics for effortless summer wear.
Wool
Wool provides warmth without bulk. We use different varieties—merino, cashmere, and lambswool—to create sweaters, coats, and outerwear that are breathable, insulating, and naturally moisture-wicking.
Cashmere
Luxuriously soft and lightweight, cashmere is spun from the undercoat of cashmere goats. A timeless material, it delivers unparalleled warmth and a refined look.
Silk
Silk has been treasured for centuries for its smooth touch and natural sheen. It drapes beautifully and feels incredibly soft against the skin, making it ideal for elevated pieces and evening wear.
Polyester
Durable and easy to care for, polyester is a modern staple in fashion. We use it both alone and in blends to enhance shape retention, wrinkle resistance, and strength—ensuring your garments last longer and maintain their fit.
Recycled Polyester
Made from post-consumer plastics (like water bottles), recycled polyester offers the same performance as virgin polyester while reducing environmental impact.
Rayon & Viscose
Both rayon and viscose are semi-synthetic fibers derived from wood pulp. They mimic the softness of natural fibers like cotton and silk while offering versatility for flowy dresses and tops.
Modal
A type of rayon, modal is silky smooth, breathable, and highly resistant to shrinkage. It’s often blended with cotton to enhance softness and drape.
Tencel™ (Lyocell)
Produced with sustainable wood sources and a closed-loop process, Tencel™ is an eco-friendly material that’s soft, strong, and biodegradable. It feels cool on the skin and is perfect for both basics and elevated essentials.
Nylon
Known for its strength and stretch, nylon is often used in activewear and outerwear. It provides flexibility, durability, and resistance to abrasions.
Spandex (Elastane, Lycra®)
Added in small amounts to many fabrics, spandex gives clothing its stretch. It ensures freedom of movement and helps garments retain their shape wear after wear.
Denim
Made primarily from cotton, denim is a durable twill weave fabric used for jeans, jackets, and more. We select high-quality denim that balances structure with comfort, often blended with a touch of stretch for wearability.
Faux Leather (Vegan Leather)
A cruelty-free alternative to animal leather, our faux leather is durable, stylish, and easy to care for. It provides the sleek look of leather while being more lightweight and versatile.
Shearling & Sherpa (Faux Options)
Warm and cozy, shearling and sherpa fabrics (we use both real and faux) add texture and insulation to outerwear and accessories. Our faux options mimic the softness of real wool while being animal-friendly.
Blends
Many of our garments use carefully crafted blends—such as cotton-polyester or wool-nylon—to combine the best properties of each fabric. This results in pieces that are softer, stronger, easier to care for, and longer-lasting.
Our Commitment
We believe in materials with purpose—each chosen not just for how it looks, but for how it feels, how it wears, and how it fits into a more sustainable fashion future. Whether natural, recycled, or innovative, our fabrics are thoughtfully sourced to give you timeless pieces you’ll love for years to come.
